bootrom for gigabit NIC (netgear)

Hi,
Does bootroms for gigabit nics exist? I searched and couldn't find. If
not, how does one go about the problem for diskless nodes? Do I have to
fix a 10/100 nic just for booting, assuming I don't want to use
floppies?

Also how fast is swapping over network? how much is the chance that it
will bottleneck. I also have nfs over the same nic and it is also used
for running the jobs. Each node has 512MB RAM.
