this problem, but I thought I might as well share my experiences.
The server has been in production for over a year now. It is a Dell
Poweredge 2300 w/ dual 350Mhz PIIs. Kernel version 2.0.35,
eepro100.c:v0.99B. The first errors showed up on Nov 16 at around 6:00PM.
There were no operational problems on the server until 8:00AM on Nov 20.
The server was still up, it just could not talk to the network.
Reloading the driver module fixed the problem.
The messages changed slightly once it stopped working. Originally they
were:
eth0: Transmit timed out: status 0050 command 0000.
When it failed they had changed to:
eth0: Transmit timed out: status e050 command 0000.
and eventually to:
eth0: Transmit timed out: status e450 command 0000.
The only recent changes to the network configuration have been to change
the default gateway & netmask. (from xxx.yyy.1.1/255.255.0.0 to
xxx.yyy.15.254/255.255.254.0) and to add appletalk.
Has a more recent version of the driver fixed this? I could not determine
this from reading the list archives.
Thanks,
Andrew
