On two of our computers (the other 50 are working fine), we began latly to
recieve messages of the form:
eth0: Transmit timed out: status 7048 0000 at 5772/5786 command 000ca000.
eth0: Trying to restart the transmitter...
eth0: Transmit timed out: status 7048 0000 at 5772/5786 command 000ca000.
eth0: Trying to restart the transmitter...
eth0: Transmit timed out: status 7048 0000 at 5772/5786 command 000ca000.
eth0: Trying to restart the transmitter...
during boot we get:
eth0: Intel EtherExpress Pro 10/100 at 0xe600, 00:90:27:A6:78:E7, IRQ 16.
Receiver lock-up bug exists -- enabling work-around.
Board assembly 721383-007, Physical connectors present: RJ45
Primary interface chip i82555 PHY #1.
General self-test: passed.
Serial sub-system self-test: passed.
Internal registers self-test: passed.
ROM checksum self-test: passed (0x04f4518b).
We are using the "Intel EtherExpress 100" card, with the i82559 chipset,
on both dual and single 440bx motherboards (msi 6163, 6120).
Trying the latest driver from
http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/eepro100.html
makes everything even worse: the driver finds unexsiting cards, and fails
to work completly:
