Problem uploading data to a linux host with eepro100+

Magnus,

things to check:

 - auto-detect of 10/100 Mbit/s and Hdx/Fdx may fail
(with certain combinations of NIC / cabling / hub)
the driver takes params to fix rate and mode

 - can you *reliably* ping your system *while it is quiet* ?

 - try eepro-diag. I have a few NIC's on which eepro-diag
(most of the time) gives me the following:

eepro100-diag.c:v1.01 7/8/99 Donald Becker (becker@cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov)
Index #1: Found a Intel 82557 EtherExpressPro100B adapter at 0xf800.
i82557 chip registers at 0xf800:
  00000000 00000000 00000000 00080002 14378462 00000000
  No interrupt sources are pending.
The transmit unit state is 'Idle'.
The receive unit state is 'Idle'.
This status is unusual for an activated interface.

In addition to being "unusual", performance of the NIC is
between lousy and nil in this state. Can be recovered for
some time by ifconfig down / ifconfig up ...
(not really the solution IMHO)

Best regards,
Walter
