incompatibility between eepro100 and Cisco Catalyst switch?

Has anyone heard of any compatibility issues between an eepro and a Cisco
Catalyst switch?

Our server works perfectly with a no name NE2000 compatible NIC, but has
problems if we try the eepro100.  (regardless of the mode I manually place
it in).

We are connecting to a Cisco Catalyst switch.
