Thanks for the input. I tried manually setting the NIC to 100FD and 100HD.
Unfortunately, I am not authorized to change settings on the Catalyst :( and
though I set the NIC, the switch insisted upon renegotiating.

Try using mii-diags to set the link speed to a fixed 100bt-FD. Do
the same on your Cisco. If it's just negotiation problems, this
should fix it.
