Check
  - sleep mode using 'eepro100-diag -ee'
  - dropped packets, or other errors

You have a nameserver problem.  This is unrelated to the driver.
Check your nameserver configuration.  Remember that both ends of a
connection must have resolvable names.  Just because there is no delay
when the local host pings the remote host by name, doesn't mean that the
remote host can resolve the local host's name to log it when you attempt
other operations.

Yup, nameserver problem.
