hi ya louis...

have you tried to use "modules" instead of compiling the driver
into the kernel ???

boot your box into single user mode...so taht it does NOT need to get on
the network.... than recompile your kernel with modules for eepro
	CONFIG_EEPRO100=m

than boot it and get on the lan/net
