Hello All,

at first a big sorry in case i sended this one twice (i'm currently fighting
this outlook thingy and it seems he won once or twice)

i'm currently experience an unusal error by using two Intel 82557 NIC's.
When i ping a random, reachable site i only get 1 ping/pong through than it
seems to hang:

ping www.heise.de
PING www.heise.de (193.99.144.71): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 193.99.144.71: icmp_seq=0 ttl=249 time=3.725 ms

using ctrl-c...

--- www.heise.de ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 1 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 3.725/3.725/3.725 ms

...tells everything is ok.

Further symptoms are slow connection in telnet sessions. All my
investigations ended up with no result. The NIC's are driven by the
eepro100.o module under a 2.2.19 kernel (SuSE dist).

less /proc/pci brings up the following informatiion:

Bus  0, device   2, function  0:
    Ethernet controller: Intel 82557 (rev 8).
      Medium devsel. Fast back-to-back capable. IRQ 11. Master Capable.
Latency=64.  Min Gnt=8.Max Lat=56.
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xc4fff000 [0xc4fff000].
      I/O at 0x2400 [0x2401].
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xc4e00000 [0xc4e00000].
us  0, device   5, function  0:

      Medium devsel. Fast back-to-back capable. IRQ 5. Master Capable.
Latency=64.  Min Gnt=8.Max Lat=56.
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xc4dfd000 [0xc4dfd000].
      I/O at 0x2c00 [0x2c01].
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xc4c00000 [0xc4c00000].

Can anyone gimme a hand tracking down this problem ??

greetings from germany

Tom Scholten
