i was using the 2.4.19 driver and experienced lockups. i then tried the
e100. then i rtfl and saw about sleep mode and rectified it while running
the 2.4.19 driver. still had a lockup after reboot. after downloading the
latest drivers, it was working for a bit, then it struck again.
this nic was working almost flawlessly from aug2k1 until about may2k2 when
the box was taken down for these errors. at most, resource errors arose
during that time.
this is what happened one time:

Index #1: Found a Intel i82557/8/9 EtherExpressPro100 adapter at 0xd000.
i82557 chip registers at 0xd000:
0c006050 17a72000 00000000 00080002 182541e1 00000600
Interrupt sources are pending.
The transmit unit state is 'Suspended'.
The receive unit state is 'Ready'.
This status is unusual for an activated interface.
The Command register has an unprocessed command 0c00(?!).
