tulip & max. mount count

Hi!
I'm using a Kingston PCI 10 MBit Ethernet Card with following chipset:
Ethernet controller: DEC DC21041 (rev 33).
On Linux Kernel 2.2.9, with following version of the tulip.c
tulip.c:v0.91g 7/16/99
(not compiled into the kernel static but loaded as a module)
Whenever my harddisks reach their maximum mount count and fsck is
doing an extended check (or, of course, if I
dont unmount them before powering down), booting stop's when the driver
for the ethernet card is loaded. (After the first line of of the
media-sensing message.) The machine isnt totally freezed then (e.g. I'm
still seeing incoming phone calls on my ISDN line just unter the
media-sense line), but I have to make a cold-rebbot then. (And, of course,
next time, driver stop's the machine again since the hd's werent clearly
unmounted, so I have to boot from floppy without ethernet support, get the
hd's checked, boot from harddisk again and can continue my work.)
This really sounds like a bug since I can easily reproduce it, but of
course it's just a guess that it is caused by tulip.c since it stops when
loading the tulip module :)
Can anyone help me? Any idea? This is annoying really!
Thanks, Phil!
