Adapter works only 5 seconds

I have a problem with Tulip 21143 card (Edimax 9113). It runs only 5 seconds
(5 pings) after initialization. Then the adapter's activity LED starts
blinking (very quickly) and the network is not reachable, although the link
LED lights and system reports the adapter is up, but all the packets are
errors. The configuration is:

Shuttle AB-61, BX chipset
Celeron 400
128 MB RAM
RedHat 6.0
