I'm running a Hitachi laptop with a built-in Digital DS21143 ethernet interface.  My linux version is Red Hat 6.0 with the 2.2.5-22 kernel patch provided by Red Hat.  My problems seem to begin about the same time that I applied the kernel patch (upgrading from 2.2.5-15 to 2.2.5-22).

The symptoms are that when I perform an "ifup eth0" everything seems fine (i.e., no error messages) and the interface appears in an "ifconfig" listing.  However, I find that I can't ping any other machines on the network and I eventually (usually withing a minute or so) start to get the following error message to the screen (and in the /var/log/messages log file):

eth0:  Tx hung, 15 vs. 9

This error message continues to repeat and I continue to not be able to access the network.  And there are no other error messages appearing in any of my log files during this time frame...

Here's what I have tried:

a) Set the options for the card in /etc/conf.modules to both autoselect (=0) and MII autoselect (=11)

b) I've tried this on several different networks with various brand hubs, switches and even just using a crossover cable.  Same story on all situations...
