It seems that there have been many problems with the NetGear
FA310TX NIC. So that I don't bore you too much with another,
I'll cut to the chase about my card.
I have just installed a brand spanking new NetGear FA310TX NIC
(board rev D2) into my machine which runs
SMP 2.2.15pre9 ( patched with international crypto and Hedricks latest IDE).
I bring up eth0:
- my 10/100 HUB reports a negotiated link of 100Mbps. This is good.
- I have network connectivity on both Tx and Rx. Also good.
- I FTP a large file on my private network. I expect blazing fast speeds,
but I get a throughput that is roughly 1/7th that of my old
10BaseT 3c900. This is bad...
Given the research I have done _after_ I bought this $20 card, I am not
suprised that I am also experiencing problems. But, it seems that
this situation is unique. I could not find any previous report of the
100 Mbps FA310TX NIC behaving like a 1Mbps connection.
So I have tried everything everyone else has tried. I even went as
far as to compile and try the driver NetGear supplies.
Here is some relevant information to report:
dmesg | tail -8

Is this a problem that has already been seen? If not, let me know
if I can send more debug information
Thanks,
