[tulip-bug] Ethernet card problems using tulip.o driver

I have linked two linux machines using a twisted pair cable. My hardware
works fine, as it works when booted up into windows. 

in linux I load the tulip.o driver using modprobe, this loads ok and i can
even see the LEDS on the NIC turn on. The problem is when I then type
"ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up", the LEDs stop and
pinging does not get replies.

What am i doing wrong?
