Donald,
I've noticed from the mailing list archives that you seem to be actively working on the tulip.c driver. I have a Linksys EtherFast 10/100 PC Card (PCMPC100). It is probably of the newer type, as I just recently bought it. I am running with kernel 2.0.36 and tulip.c 0.91e (also 0.91). I have cardmgr set up to load the driver when the card is plugged in. Here is my syslog from such a transaction:
Jun 6 10:56:59 scheme cardmgr[143]: initializing socket 1
Jun 6 10:56:59 scheme cardmgr[143]: socket 1: Linksys EtherFast 10/100 Fast Eth
ernet

Jun 6 10:56:59 scheme cardmgr[143]: executing: 'insmod /lib/modules/2.0.36/pcmc
ia/tulip_cb.o'
Jun 6 10:56:59 scheme kernel: tulip_cb: RequestIO: Bad attribute
Jun 6 10:57:00 scheme cardmgr[143]: get dev info on socket 1 failed: Resource t
emporarily unavailable
Jun 6 11:00:00 scheme /USR/SBIN/CRON[19191]: (root) CMD (test -f /proc/modules
&& /sbin/rmmod -a)
Jun 6 11:00:50 scheme cardmgr[143]: shutting down socket 1
Jun 6 11:00:50 scheme cardmgr[143]: executing: 'rmmod tulip_cb'
Jun 6 11:00:50 scheme cardmgr[143]: executing: 'rmmod cb_enabler'
I am a competent programmer and would love to help in any way I can to get this working. I have the following questions:
1. Would kernel 2.2.x help?
2. What does "RequestIO: Bad attribute" (above) indicate?
3. I keep seeing references to setting options[]. Does this refer to the opts field in my /etc/pcmcia/config file device section for this card? Should I try setting it to something in particular?
I am going to CC this message to the mailing list, but it may get bounced since my subscribe message may not be processed yet.
Thanks for any help you can provide,
Sean C. Rhea
