[tulip] DC21041 and kernel 2.4.18

i have been working on this for a little while now and can't seem to
resolve the problem.
configuration:
redhat 6.0
Digital DC21041 Tulip rev 17 at 0xfc80, 21041 mode, 00:00:C0:BA:5D:FA, IRQ 11.

i have managed to update the driver with your very good instructions so
that i have this running as driver now:  tulip.c:v0.93 11/7/2001  Written
by Donald Becker <becker@scyld.com> . when i boot the system the card
comes up just fine but i can't send from it or receive from it. the last
kernel i have had luck with is the 2.4.4 kernel and it is using this
driver: Linux Tulip driver version 0.9.14e (April 20, 2001).
before i updated the driver i was having exactly the same problem as i am
now but i read through the mailing list and saw that it was suggested
multiple times to update the driver. any suggestions on what i may try
next?
