well I know that rh5.1 by default uses modules maybe the pci bios part of
the kernel is installed as a module. Maybe the problem would go away if
you made sure the pci bios was compiled into the kernel and not a module.
Just a guess... I use slackware for many reasons, and redhat's approach to
their product is one of them 8-)
