Cyclone 3c905B and the ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff address

O/S - Redhat 5.1 with 2.0.35 kernel  dual boot with win98
System is a Pentium 2 with a BX chipset motherboard, Award bios.
network card- 3com 3c905b rev 4 using .99e driver
I've read the help page on the ff:ff:ff... address problem.

If i cold boot to linux everything works fine.  If I run win98 then
'reboot' to linux i get the ff:ff:ff station address and the card won't work.

I've gone to my bios and disabled PnP Bios, and the Auto Config section.
Is there anything else i can do to get the card to work when i warm boot
from win98 to linux?
