I have a 3c905c card in a computer running redhat 6.1 with kernel
2.2.14. When I try to PING it from another computer running Win98 it
will not respond properly. A fraction of the packets are responded
but most of the vanish (>80%). I do not have the same problem when
trying to access the computer from another box running linux on the
same network.
During boot of the computer I get the following message in the
message log:
Jan 29 18:24:25 system kernel: 3c59x.c:v0.99H 11/17/98 Donald Becker

whole-frame receives.
The proc filesystem reports an 'unknown 3com card' instead of 3c905c.
The invalid checksum, is that an indication of broken hardware, or is
there another explanation/workaround to get the card working?
