I'm curious what your 2.4.x kernel .config looks like.  Please check and
make sure you have

	CONFIG_PCMCIA=y
	CONFIG_CARDBUS=y
	# CONFIG_I82365 is not set -- very important
	# CONFIG_TCIC is not set -- also important
