[vortex] Why does my 3c905b-tx not reconnect?

Hi all,

Why does my 3c905b-tx in my linux-machine (running with redhat 7.1
with 2.4.16) not reconnect? Once in a while, I find that I can't
access this machine, and until reboot the link-indicator-leds of both
HUB and NIC stay off until reboot of this machine.
Any idea why this could happen?
Any idea for a solution?

I would happily provide any Information (logs, settings, ...) needed
for debuggin, if that is necessary...
