I guess that this is another 905CX card. The driver in 2.4.0 is not
"ready" for it; the patch from Andrew to correct this should be in
2.4.1-pre1. (ftp://ftp.de.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/testing/)

The initial CX cards didn't operate properly even with 3c90x driver; it
seems that 3Com has at least 2 generations of these cards...

This indicates that you don't force any media type, but the driver honours
the EEPROM setting which is 10baseT. If you don't want to do this, you can
either pass an option to the module to force some media type or use the
DOS config tool from 3Com to change it back to autonegotiation.
