[eepro100] NAS with eepro100

I have a Linux NAS (no cd-rom, no floppy) and was receiving the "report no
resources" error for the eepro100.
It was a minor pain but ifdown ifup seemed to resolve it. Now however, it
hung and fails to load.
This is giving me eepro100.c $ revision 1.20.2.10 2000/05/31....
it is running an Applianceware (2.3.0.39) modified kernel 2.2.16-14aw25

any support, or comments greatly appreciated.
