Thanks to Graham I got rid of the "missing dependency error" message,
but I still have the following problem:
With linux-2.0.34 or 2.0.35 and tulip 0.89K my ethernetcard seems to
be found at boottime or when I insert the module by hand. I get the
following message:
Aug 24 17:12:12 sauron kernel: tulip.c:v0.89K 8/8/98 becker@cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov
Aug 24 17:12:12 sauron kernel: eth0: Digital DS21143 Tulip at 0xe000, 00 00 d1 10 47 ee, IRQ 9.
Aug 24 17:12:12 sauron kernel: eth0: EEPROM default media type Autosense.
Aug 24 17:12:12 sauron kernel: eth0: Index #0 - Media MII (#11) described by a 21142 MII PHY (3) block.
Aug 24 17:12:12 sauron kernel: eth0: Index #1 - Media 10base2 (#1) described by
a 21142 Serial PHY (2) block.
Aug 24 17:12:12 sauron kernel: eth0: Checking for MII transceivers...
Aug 24 17:12:12 sauron kernel: eth0: ***WARNING***: No MII transceiver found!
But still, I can not get any connection to the net, every minute the
kernel yields an error message:
Aug 25 09:39:43 sauron kernel: eth0: No link beat on the MII
interface, status then 7849 now 7849.
If I boot with a 2.0.32 kernel and tulip 0.83, everything works fine
(I still get the warning about no MII transceiver, so that's not the
problem). That is, hardware and net configuration should be ok.
