Adaptec 6911A/TX again

Hi!

I am trying to get an Adaptec 6911A/TX to work with Linux-2.0.35
and using Tulip driver 0.89K. I keep getting the dreaded "no MII
transceiver found" errors.

I believe that I have followed all direction present on the net.
An old Cogent EM960C is working fine on that machine so I believe
there is no problem with the setup. The card was connected to a
Bay Networks 350T-HD with the port set to 10 Mbit full duplex
manually.

tulip-diag output is attached.

Any hints (including pointers to relevant information that I did not
find yet) will be appreciated. However, this is a production machine
that I am quite reluctant to use with beta (or test) code.

I might be particularly stupid with the tulip driver since I am unable
to get an Accton EN1207D-TX run with the tulip driver either. This
time, the driver doesn't even start. It looks like that card does not
have a DEC-compatible chip although it is listed with the tulip
compatibility list. The chip on that card is labled MPX EN5030 83069S1
812K.

The only card I currently am successfully running with the tulip
driver is a next-to-ancient Cogent EM960C. But that one was already
running with the 0.86 (?) that was included with the stock kernel
2.0.33.
