Problems on DFE-500TX

I modled Donald Becker's linux tulip driver and wrote a driver for DFE-500TX under AIX 4.2. I found the following problems:
    1. The CSR0<7> BLE-Big/Little Endian definition in Digital's technique
reference seems to be wrong. I tested and found that the reverse definition
is right. What is your opinion?
    2. The transmission status in TDES0 always report "Loss of Carrier" and
"No Carrier" after every transmission(The value of TDES0 is always
0x7fffbc00). But the destination workstation can receive the data frame correctly. What is the problem? Under what condition will the chip report "Loss of Carrier" and "No Carrier"? Something wrong is the setting of CSR0 or CSR6? Or something is wrong with the setting of MII registers?
